LUCIAN BROSCATEAN

Inverted Perspective

Spring/Summer  2012

“I investigate the relation between clothes, body and space”

Lucian Broscatean, the fourth of the Romanian Designers Show participants, already prove his affinity for avant-garde forms and mystical colors in January 2011 at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Berlin. The independent filmmaker Peter Tscherkassky inspired his new Spring/ Summer 2012 collection, “Inverted Perspective”.

The mysterious, the poetic and the foreign are once again core elements in Lucian’s work. His collection is like a story in which the characters are dismissed in an uncanny territory. His collection consists of trench-dresses, cardigans with decorative zippers, a dress with several waistcoats incorporated and light parkas with reformulated details. Natural and soft textiles, like silk and cotton wrap the body creating hybrid shapes and twisted surfaces. Throughout the whole collection, the young designer focuses on the contrast between structures and fibers, abstract elements and organic surfaces. Volumes, asymmetric cuts and the limited use of colors stress the uncanny and mystical essence of his work.

The pieces cost around 100-600 euro. Lucian targets to nomadic and creative travelers who really enjoy wearing items with certain versatility.

LENA CRIVEANU

Moonday

Spring/Summer  2012

Lena Criveanu is the newcomer in the group of the Romanian Designers and for the first time this year, part of the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Her collection for Spring/Summer 2012, “Moonday”, is inspired by the female body itself, combining elements from traditional Romanian heritage such as shirts worn by the people from the region of Transylvania.

The Fabrics are mainly silk, cotton and jersey, often combined with metal or even artificial materials such as transparent plastic. The designer closely follows the natural line of the female body, mixing cuts from the 20s and the 90s. The shapes are based on the dawn and dewdrops or “passion” drops as the designer calls them herself.  The main idea was to use the fabrics in such a way so that hand cutting rather than sewing would produce the designs. The collage of natural and artificial materials create a sense of body sculpting and body painting. Shades of iridescent gold, white, ivory and gray are the main components of her color palette.

The prices vary between 400 and 800 euro. Lena’s target group are 30 to 40 years old, sophisticated women, happy to accept themselves with all their facets, in love with nature and lifestyle.

ALINA BOTEA

Flying Sunny Day

Spring/Summer  2012

„My words are my clothes“

Alina Botea already participated in the show of the Romanian Designers last January. She produces two lines, the “alina botea luxury line” and “Portrait by Alina Botea”. Both brands can be found in selected stores.

Alina recently graduated from the Art and Design University of Cluj-Napoca in Romania. Her new collection for Spring/Summer 2012, “Flying Sunny Day”, is inviting the visitor to an inspirational and idyllic garden.  For the collection, the designer exclusively created digital prints inspired by dragonflies. The cuts and shapes of the pieces are produced accordingly to the silhouettes of those small creatures. Those unexpected shapes are enriched with a big variety of really feminine accessories. The fluid and vaporous quality of fabrics such as silk, tulle, taffeta and cotton allow a unique collection that combines and reflects the airy and light feeling of the summer months.

The pieces range from 300 to 1000 euro. Alina designs for women between 20 and 30 years old, modern, confident, fashionable and aware of their stylistic choices. For those who are interested in meeting her personally, she can be met at her showroom in Cluj-Napoca.

IRINA SCHROTTER

I AM

Spring/Sommer 2012

Irina Schotter is an international renowned fashion designer who showed for the first time in Germany at Romanian Designers fashion show in January 2011. The collection for Spring/Summer 2012, “I AM”, is mainly inspired by the current street fashion, promoting an urban and modern lifestyle, including items from blazers to dresses, skirts and shorts.

The cuts and shapes are mainly straight, often complemented by extraordinary voluminous elements. Her color preferences are dedicated to the summer. Bright and pale tones give her clothes the final touch. Natural textiles such as silk and cotton dominate the creations.

The prices of the items vary between 30 and 1500 euro. For Irina, it is important that her collection can be worn any time of day, combining comfort with elegance; her favorite piece is the jump suit.
